Running for IQC leadership is a chance to help shape the direction of the caucus, build LGBTQIA2S+ political power in Idaho, and support work that directly impacts our community.
Board members help guide caucus priorities, organize members and allies, respond to legislation, support voter engagement, and create more opportunities for queer Idahoans to lead.
-
To run for an IQC leadership role, you must:
Be a current Idaho Queer Caucus member
Be a registered Democrat
Be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the role, including attending meetings, participating in caucus work, and communicating regularly with the board.
You do not need to live in Boise.
IQC leadership roles are statewide roles, and we want leadership from across Idaho, including rural communities and every region of the state.
Some roles, like the Legislative Director, may benefit from someone living near the Statehouse.

Yes. IQC leadership roles serve one-year terms. Current leaders must run again if they want to continue, so all positions are open each year.

State Vice Chair – Assists the Chair and builds cooperation across regions.
Treasurer – Manages finances, reporting, and fundraising.
Records Chair – Maintains meeting records, membership lists, and communications.
Regional Chairs (7) – Represent specific Idaho regions.
Membership Director – Drives recruitment and membership engagement.
Legislative Director – Leads legislative advocacy and grassroots mobilization.
Communications Director – Manages outreach, social media, and public messaging.
Events Coordinator – Plans events to engage members, allies, and voters.
Voter & Candidate Director – Supports voter education and LGBTQIA+ candidates for office.
If you’re unsure which role might fit your skills or interests, reach out! We’re happy to provide guidance.

Time commitment depends on the role and the season. Some roles may require more time during legislative session, election season, or membership drives.
